New Orleans Muffuletta

Muffuletta sandwiches are an iconic New Orleans dishes. They originated in Central Grocery and have since become must-eats when visiting New Orleans. A muffuletta is a round sesame-seed roll filled with cured meats (ham and salami), provolone cheese, olive salad dressing, as well as delicious bread. The olive salad dressing is made of chopped green and black olives, onions, olive oil, and also seasonings.

The muffuletta first appeared at Central Grocery in 1906. Although not everyone enjoys the various textures and flavors of turtle soup, it can be an interesting experience for those who have never tried it.
